Charles Peace

Charles Peace was a notorious Victorian criminal.

He was a thief, a jail-bird, and a murderer with a talent for playing the violin. He defended himself at trial - with bravado. He even had the nerve to ask the Bow Street Runners for street directions.

He plays a small role in The Murderess and the Hangman - at the end of William Marwood's noose!

Peace led an incredible life - before he met his demise - and later inspired countless films and romantic novels.

But in the end, he couldn't escape the Bow Street Runners or William Marwood's hanging hands!

Charles Peace

The face of a master criminal - and master of disguise!

Apparently he was quite the ladies man, perhaps despite appearances.
